FIFA Officials Arrested On Suspicion Of Corruption

The fact that there is corruption in FIFA is not something new. In fact, many people have questioned how FIFA, which governs the world’s football, operate. These calls came as FIFA decided to award the world cup hosting bids to countries that are not suited to host the event and as it now turns out, there were lots of money exchanged to see that the events went to countries that were awarded.

These latest news, according to football experts, is damaging for FIFA’s President Sepp Blatter who is running for a second term in office. Even before the arrest and revelation about corruption were announced Sepp Blatter was bound to face a hard task of retaining his post and with the latest news his chances of becoming the president of FIFA seem to have died.

The seven high profile FIFA officials who were taken by the police were arrested on suspicions of corruption in what has been termed as “the world cup fraud”.

There has been many complaints from a number of football officials as well as leagues all over the world with regards to the fact that the world cup had been awarded to countries which are not suited to host the world cup. For Instance Qatar, if the world Cup is to be staged in the country then leagues all over the world would be forced to reschedule their calendar so that they can be able to fit with the new world cup schedule something that definitely wont go that well with many in the sport.
