Akim Hicks signs a 4-year contract for $48 million

Akim Hicks has proved to the Chicago Bears that he is there to stay with the team. His action tells everyone that he is not going anywhere soon. This follows a grand opening season with the Bears. Hicks signed a 4-year contract extension. Adam Schefter of ESPN, a cable and satellite U.S-based international sports television network, says that the deal with Akim Hicks is not only $48 million, but also includes a $30 million cash guarantee. The agreement did not come as a surprise because during summer while at the training camp, Hicks, through his agent Drew Rosenhaus, had started discussions with the team’s management.

The news was first announced by ESPN while the Chicago Bears made the extension official. In 2016, 27-year-old Hicks placed seventh in the profession. He was also positioned fifth in the team with fifty-four attempts. The start of his career was with the New Orleans Saints. This was after he had been selected in the third round of the NFL draft-2012. During 2013 to 2015, he started thirty-three out of thirty-five of the games. He then signed a 2-year agreement with the Bears worth $10 million.

In 2016 with the Bears, Hicks was the solitary defensive to player kick off all 16 games. He is still a great driving force for the Chicago Bears.

Hicks said that he preferred to stay in Chicago. In implementing the agreement prior to the season, he will most likely have a greater pay day rather than in the upcoming open agency. According to the Bears, Hicks is expected to play without injuries.
