The 2016 Olympics will be held all through the month of August in the sunny city of Rio De Janerio, Brazil. It will be the first time a South American city will host such an event. There will more than 10,000 athletes competing from over 200 National Olympic Committees.
In the swimming sports event, here are two hopefuls that may win a Gold medal.
Kane is one of New Zealand’s star swimmers for both 10 km and 5 km events. He has won swimming championships four times since 2012. He won Gold for the Oceania Open Water event in the 10 km and 5 km races. He is just 24 years old and has accomplished a lot in his career. He is definitely one of the front runners for a Gold medal at the Olympics this year in Rio.
James, a 24-year old Australian swimmer, is a definite favorite to win Gold at the Olympics. He is now a 100-meter freestyle world-champion – it may not be recorded officially but that record is for the shortest swim time in textile swimwear. He even holds the record for being the 4th fastest swimmer in history in the 100 meter race. He has won many medals in championship meets held around the world, namely the Olympics, the Commonwealth Games, and the Pan Pacific Championships.
