Michael Phelps’ Last Race in the USA

Michael Phelps, one of the most successful and well-known Olympian has decided to come off his retirement and take part in the upcoming Olympics games for one last time. He hopes that he will manage to add a medal to his record. The retired at the London 2012 Olympics where he managed to increase his collection of medals from this competition to 22. It is worth noting that 18 of them are gold medals, and this makes him the most decorated and successful athlete of all time.

The news that he will be taking part in the event and that he has already resumed training took many by surprise. While celebrating his 31st birthday, he successfully qualified for three individual distances and three relays. These wins earned him a spot in the US Olympics swimming team trials that will be held in Omaha.

This will be the fifth time that he has taken part in this competition, though he has said that it will also be his last. At the age of 15, he finished fifth in the 200-meter butterfly final competition in 2000 Sydney Olympics. When asked how he felt after emerging fifth, he said that he felt great, and the event meant a lot to him, but he wished he could have done better.

His success story is a clear indication of the success one can achieve by being determined, focused, and committed to an objective. In 2004 Athens Olympics, he took part in eight competitions and successfully managed to get a gold medal in the 100-meter and 200-meter butterfly and 200m and 400m individual medley. In this event, he also won gold alongside his teammates in the freestyle relays and a bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle.
