Seahawks Richard Sherman welcomes son a few days after Super Bowl loss

Seattle Seahawks may have lost to New England’s Patriots but Seahawks Richard Sherman had a reason to celebrate. Ashley Moss, Sherman’s girlfriend delivered their first child on Thursday morning, just a few days after Super Bowl XLIX.

Sherman couldn’t hide his excitement and he took to twitter to share the good news with the world. “My son sure does know how to make an entrance! 2/5/15... Is it a coincidence or is he just that clever?! Either way I’m ecstatic,” Sherman tweeted. Sherman’s jersey number is 25.

Moss was in Arizona for the Super Bowl game and when Sherman was asked what would happen if his girlfriend went to labor during the game, "That's a topic of debate?" Sherman said. "I'm focused on the game. He's not supposed to come on Sunday. If he does, that would change some things. I've thought about the possibility of his coming during the game or coming before the game."

Three days before the game Sherman joked about the pending birth of his son, “I think he’s going to be a disciplined young man and stay in there until after the game. He’s going to do his father his first favor and stay in there for another week or two.”

Seahawks suffered a 28-24 loss to Patriots when Russell Wilson intercepted a pass by the Seahawks. Sherman’s teammates and others from NFL congratulated the couple via twitter. His son shares his birthday with several great athlete such as Neymar and Ronaldo.

Sherman’s new addition to his family and clearly it lifted his spirits despite Seahawks loss. "Haven't felt anything better than this!" he tweeted on Thursday. "Thank you God such a blessing!"
